24-Form — Group 4: Heel Kick, Strike Opponent's Ears, Left Heel Kick¶
Group 4 is the big-step group — requiring precise footwork and the ability to maintain single-leg balance at a high level.
Posture 12: Right Heel Kick (右蹬腳)¶
Description¶
Both hands cross at chest. Right hand pushes out forward, left hand pulls back to hip. Right foot kicks straight forward with the heel raised to hip height.
Subtle points¶
- Kick from hip, not knee: Kick force goes from hip rotation, thigh leads, calf extends, heel extends out
- Kick high at hip level: Don't try to kick too high — heel at hip height is enough
- Two hands symmetric: Hand pushing out — Hand pulling back, at shoulder height
- Weight stable on support leg: Kicking leg moves freely, support leg doesn't sway
Common mistakes¶
- Kick from knee (lose force)
- Heel too low (below hip)
- Pushing hand not symmetric with pulling hand
- Support leg swaying
Application¶
This posture trains straight kick with hip force — foundation for later kicks. Also trains single-leg balance at a medium level.
Posture 13: Strike Opponent's Ears with Both Fists (雙峰貫耳)¶
Description¶
From posture 12, lower the kicking leg. Both hands make fists, raise to ear height (palms facing down). Right foot steps forward. Both fists punch straight down-forward toward the opponent.
Subtle points¶
- Both fists go at the same time: Not left then right — both simultaneously
- Force goes down-forward: Punch diagonally down at 45 degrees, not horizontally
- Center drops low: When punching, center goes low
- Both elbows relaxed: Don't tense the arms
Common mistakes¶
- Punching horizontally instead of diagonally down
- Hands not even (one higher, one lower)
- Using shoulder force instead of hip force
Application¶
This posture trains simultaneous two-hand punching with hip force. Martial application: punch to opponent's temples or ears.
Posture 14: Turn Body Left Heel Kick (轉身左蹬腳)¶
Description¶
Turn body 180 degrees to the left. Right hand waves down, left hand waves up. Left foot kicks straight back (after turning, kick in the new direction).
Subtle points¶
- Body turn smooth: Rotate the whole body simultaneously, not in parts
- Hands swing with momentum: Hands swing up-down naturally with the turn
- Kick after turn completes: Center stable before kicking
- Two hands symmetric when kicking: one pushing, one pulling
Common mistakes¶
- Turning body in parts (shoulders first, hips after)
- Losing balance when turning
- Kicking before turn completes
Application¶
This posture trains quick direction change — important in both martial arts and daily life adaptation. Also trains kicking with non-dominant leg (left leg).
Postures 15-17: Cross Hands, Right Heel Kick, Turn Body Fist Strike¶
Quick summary¶
- Posture 15: Cross Hands — both hands cross at chest, left outside, right inside
- Posture 16: Right Heel Kick — repeats posture 12 with right leg
- Posture 17: Turn Body Fist Strike — turn body, punch straight with right fist
Common points¶
- Body turn 180 degrees appears 3 times in Group 4
- Kicks both legs alternate (left-right)
- Fists appear for the first time in the set
Learning path for Group 4¶
| Week | Practice | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | Right Heel Kick | Learn movement, maintain balance |
| 3-4 | Strike Opponent's Ears | Coordinate hand-foot |
| 5-6 | Left Heel Kick | Practice body turn + kick |
| 7-8 | Whole Group 4 | Connect smoothly |
Core principle of Group 4¶
Group 4 is the big-step and kick group — requiring: - Stable weight on one leg (support leg doesn't sway) - Hip force leading kicks (not kicking from knee) - Two hands symmetric when kicking (hand technique goes with foot technique) - Smooth body turn (direction change without losing balance)
