Quiet Eye and Predictive Saccades¶
This note covers the visual side of elite tennis. The manuals describe a stable gaze, a quiet head, and predictive eye movement as the mechanism that lets the player arrive at contact with less panic and less wasted motion.
Core idea¶
- The eyes do not simply chase the ball.
- The gaze stabilizes on the likely contact zone.
- The head stays quiet so the visual system can stay useful.
Why it matters¶
High-speed tennis is not solved by reaction alone. It is solved by reducing visual chaos early enough that the body can organize the next movement before contact.
