External Cue Principle

Old Knowledge: Coaches cue về body parts và technical mechanics: "Watch your elbow," "Keep your wrist firm," "Rotate your shoulders."

2026 Audit: Internal cues (về body parts) force player vào Prefrontal Cortex (Self 1) — slow, analytical, conscious control. Over-concentration là primary cause của unforced errors, không phải under-concentration. Mỗi lần coach nói "watch your elbow," họ đang literally destroy execution quality của cú đó.


Neurological Mechanism

Internal Cues → Self 1 Activation

Khi player nhận lệnh "watch your elbow": 1. Prefrontal Cortex (PFC) phải activate để monitor elbow. 2. PFC (Self 1) is slow — operates at ~200ms latency. 3. Contact window là 4ms — PFC cannot intervene usefully. 4. Nhưng: Activation của PFC interferes với Basal Ganglia (Self 2) đang cố execute. 5. Kết quả: Global co-contraction, timing disruption, "mechanical" execution.

External Cues → Implicit Control

External cues redirect attention về outcomes và environment, không phải body mechanics: - "Listen to the pop of the strings" → attention hướng ra ngoài. - "Hit to that cone" → spatial attention, không phải body monitoring. - Kết quả: PFC is not activated → Basal Ganglia (Self 2) runs unimpeded → Satori State accessible.

"Listen to the Pop" — Flagship External Cue

Cue mạnh nhất trong toàn bộ Manual cho forehand execution là "Listen to the pop of the strings." Lý do: 1. Redirects attention hoàn toàn ra ngoài body. 2. Acoustic feedback tức thì và objective — không cần coach giải thích. 3. Deep-resonant pop = Mushin, kinetic chain hoạt động, elastic contact (xem Slot Quality Sound Diagnostic). 4. Thin-slapping sound = player đã rời Mushin — self-diagnosis mà không cần coach.

Player học tự monitor sound = most powerful self-coaching tool in the game.


Proprioceptive Learning — Khi Internal IS External

Một ngoại lệ quan trọng: một số proprioceptive drills yêu cầu player cảm nhận body sensation — nhưng đây là học proprioception, không phải cuing trong execution. Ví dụ: - Medicine Ball Slingshot Drill: "Feel your hip moving forward" → learning drill, không phải match execution cue. - Lefty-Forehand Drill: Player feels non-dominant arm driving → proprioceptive discovery, không phải verbal instruction.

Phân biệt: Learning drills có thể dùng internal sensation. Match execution cues phải là external.
