Sampras Serve Development Program¶
Overview¶
This training program is designed to develop a serve modeled after Pete Sampras, widely regarded as having one of the greatest serves in tennis history. The program focuses on developing explosive power, pinpoint accuracy, variety, and the ability to serve effectively under pressure—hallmarks of Sampras's serve that helped him win 14 Grand Slam titles.
Program Overview¶
- Duration: 12 weeks (can be adjusted based on athlete level)
- Frequency: 3-4 sessions per week
- Session Length: 60-90 minutes
- Equipment Needed: Tennis court, balls, targets (cones, zones), radar gun (optional but recommended), video analysis equipment
- Prerequisites: Proper serving grip (continental or eastern backhand grip), basic service motion fundamentals
Phase 1: Foundation Weeks (Weeks 1-2)¶

Equipment Recommendations¶
