Volley Philosophy

No swing. The volley is a block with a pulse. Racket stays in front. Face adjusts. Front foot steps and brakes.

V Head perfectly still. Chin tucked. No head movement = face stable.
ROOT Split step lands → immediate step forward. Front foot brakes.
8 Zero 8. Racket doesn't go back. Stays in front.
45° Face angle = target. Slight open for drop, slight close for drive.
BRAKE Front foot lands = brake. Torso stops instantly.
PULSE 1-inch firm push. No follow-through.
JIN Ting feels ball on strings. Hua absorbs pace. Fa = firm pulse.

Hands Continental grip. Racket at chest height, in front. Throat supported by off-hand.
Eyes On opponent. Soft focus.

The Sequence

3. Turn Shoulders turn, racket stays in front Instant

Overhead Philosophy

The overhead is a serve you don't control the toss for. Same chain. Move feet to the ball.

Overhead Sequence

Phase Action
1. Track Eyes on ball from opponent's contact
2. Move Side shuffle / crossover to get BEHIND ball
3. Load Racket up early, trophy position, back foot loaded
4. Park Eyes jump to contact zone as ball peaks
5. Jump/Drive Back leg drives up, front leg braces
6. Brake Front leg/hip stops, chest brakes
7. Pulse Palm pushes through 1"
8. Land Front foot lands, recover instantly
