Find Your Broken Link in 5 Minutes.

The Principle

Every error traces to ONE broken variable. Fix the link, the chain works.

The CORE Diagnostic (12 Variables)

Your Symptom Likely Broken Link Confirmation Test Fix Drill
Late contact, shanks, mis-hits Q (Quiet Eye) Eyes jump at YOUR contact, not opponent's "Park & Hold" drill
Head moves, face opens/closes V (Vestibular) Chin leaves shoulder, head turns to target "Chin Tuck & Freeze"
No power, falling back, weak ROOT (Rooting) Back foot doesn't screw, arch collapses "Screw & Lift"
Arm-only swing, elbow pain F/P (Fascia/Proprio) Forearm tight, no stretch feel in core "Line Trace" + "Eyes Closed"
Muscled swing, no whip, tired T/SSC (Tensegrity/SSC) Pause at top of takeback, forearm tight "Bounce-Drop-Push" + "Tent Trace"
Big takeback, late, rushed 8 (Figure-8) Racket goes way back, pauses at top "Shadow 8s" + "Size Regulation"
Flat balls, no margin, no spin 45° (Swing Plane) Hand path flat across chest, not diagonal "Back Pocket → Shoulder"
Pushy, no penetration, no pop BRAKE No front leg stomp, torso keeps rotating "Wall Push Pulse" + "Brake & Freeze"
Inconsistent under pressure JIN No feel, fight pace, muscled release "Eyes Closed Shadow" + "Absorb & Redirect"

Quick Self-Test (2 Minutes Per Variable)

Q Test: "Park Rate"

  1. Partner feeds 20 balls
  2. Say "PARK" aloud at THEIR contact
  3. Count: did eyes jump to YOUR contact zone?
  4. Target: >85% park rate

V Test: "Chin Check"

  1. Film side view of 10 forehands
  2. Check: chin over front shoulder through contact?
  3. Target: 10/10 chin still

ROOT Test: "Arch Lift"

  1. Stand on one leg, barefoot
  2. Screw foot, lift arch, hold 10s
  3. Feel: spiral line tension from foot to ribs
  4. Target: Both sides equal, strong tension

F Test: "Line Continuity"

  1. Slow shadow forehand
  2. Trace Spiral Line with opposite hand: foot→hip→ribs→shoulder→hand
  3. Target: No slack, continuous tension

P Test: "Eyes Closed Contact"

  1. Partner feeds 10 easy balls
  2. Close eyes at bounce
  3. Call: "FH/BH, Clean/Off, Open/Closed"
  4. Target: 8/10 correct

T Test: "Tent Trace"

  1. Slow shadow, feel "bones float, fascia holds"
  2. Check: any local knots (forearm, trap, calf)?
  3. Target: Zero knots, continuous tent

SSC Test: "Bounce-Drop-Push"

  1. Drop ball, let bounce
  2. Racket MUST move forward BEFORE ball peaks
  3. Target: 20/20 continuous, no pause

8 Test: "Shadow 8s"

  1. 30 seconds continuous figure-8s
  2. Target: No pause anywhere, smooth crossover

45° Test: "Side Film"

  1. Film 5 forehands from side
  2. Check: hand path = back pocket → opposite shoulder
  3. Target: All 5 on 45° diagonal

BRAKE Test: "Freeze Frame"

  1. Shadow swing → hard brake at exit → freeze 3s
  2. Check: torso stopped? front leg braced?
  3. Target: Instant stop, stable freeze

PULSE Test: "Wall Pulse"

  1. 1" from wall, palm on wall
  2. Push 1 inch, feel ground→hand
  3. Target: Sharp 30ms impulse, not slow push

JIN Test: "Feel the Stretch"

  1. Eyes closed, shadow swing
  2. Rate stretch feel 1-10 at max load
  3. Target: 6-7/10 clear stretch sensation

Diagnostic Decision Tree

START: What's the PRIMARY symptom?
├── CONTACT ISSUES (shanks, late, mis-hits)
│ └── → Q Test → V Test → ROOT Test
├── DIRECTION ISSUES (wide, long, net)
│ └── → BRAKE Test → 45° Test → 8 Test
├── POWER ISSUES (weak, no pop, pushy)
│ └── → ROOT Test → BRAKE Test → PULSE Test → SSC Test
├── SPIN/CONTROL ISSUES (flat, no margin)
│ └── → 45° Test → F Test → P Test
├── CONSISTENCY UNDER PRESSURE
│ └── → JIN Test → Q Test (pressure) → Routine Audit
├── PAIN / INJURY
│ └── → F Test → T Test → ROOT Test → P Test
└── NOT SURE
    └── → Full 12-Variable Screen (15 min) → Top 2 broken → Fix those
